Hare tends to dream about the past when he gets knocked out… only one more page till the end of PART ONE!!
Those big boots to fill…. (Page 23)
Yep, it’s another flashback sequence when Hare passes out. Lord knows what’ll happen when he actually goes to sleep! Coloring this many rabbits and this interior was a challenge, but it was fun to mix up the setting for a page. Now what could Karl be screaming about??? Tune in next week!

Showdown on Generator Avenue!! (page 34)
Yowza! After an extended break, we’re back! Thanks for being so patient. I had to put the comics on hold for a while as life got in the way! So, for those who’ve been following the comic weekly, I’m real sorry for the delay.
And if you’re a first time visitor to the page, thanks for reading!! For more context, I suggest starting here!
Since I last posted, my friend Gary (and partner at Booster Shot Comics) conducted a “How to Make Health Education Comics” workshop at the Comics and Medicine Conference in Brighton, UK. It was great and you can read all about our adventures in England here. Shortly after England, my wife and I went to an intense Immunology course at UPenn (no, this was not our honeymoon). After that, I had to focus on studying for my Allergy and Immunology Board exams. Barf. But with that finally done, I’m ready to get back in the saddle with Hare Borne. I’ve always gotten the best inspiration for this comic while studying (though some might call that procrastinating). So fear not, dear readers! While the website may have been stagnant for the past few months, my brain hasn’t and we have some great adventures and new characters ahead!
But enough about the past and the future. Let’s get to the present- where we have the start of part 4! If you recall, when we last saw Hare, he was hogtied by the Frog soldiers to the unfavorable end of some prehistoric turkey galloping through the desert to who-knows-where. Here we see what may be a flashback?? to when Hare’s dad, Admiral Valam, was a courageous captain facing off agains the dreaded Sky Hunters! We heard mention of this before, but now we get to see how it all went down!
Whew! Good to be back, guys, good to be back! Thanks for reading!
(and thanks for sticking around this far)

UPDATE: I made a facebook page for the comic! Click on the facebook button above or at www.facebook.com/hareborne to like and follow for updates!
Sorry for the delay in part two of Admiral Valam’s showdown with the Sky Hunters! I’ve been busy with Booster Shot Comics! Last week, we presented our Asthma Education Comic at the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities meeting in Atlanta. You can check out the slides to our presentation here. The meeting was great, and while we were there, Gary and I attempted to make our own “live drawing” video of me explaining asthma pathophysiology and medications while I drew live on a whiteboard (in our hotel room). It was tough, but super fun!
You may also notice some updates I made to the website. I’m learning as I go, but I’m digging the new look and some tweaks to the navigation. Let me know if load times are an issue. Anyway, this week’s comic was a doozy to color, but I learned a lot in the process! Stay tuned to the final installment of this flashback(?) of Admiral Valam’s exploits as a bad ass Captain!
Thanks for reading!

Be Brave! (page 36)
Hello again! We’re back today with the final installment of the three part sequence of Admiral Valam and the start to Hare’s adventures in Episode 4.
If you’re coming here from Reddit, thanks for stopping by and please follow the Hare Borne facebook page if you want regular updates and extra bonuses between comics- www.facebook.com/hareborne
As I was going through some old stuff today, I came across an old cartoon I made for a campus magazine when I was 20 years old. At the time, I was a premed college student tended to draw comics instead of study. 12 years later, and I’m still drawing comics (though now often between seeing patients at clinic). Anyway, it was fun to look back and see what at the time I thought was my motivation for drawing comics. Now, I’d probably just tell you I do it because it’s fun. I’m also glad in those years I’ve stopped using markers and learned how to color digitally!
Thanks for reading!
